A Pink Mega Moon in Brigantine New Jersey 3-19-2011 HD

This is a new edit of film I shot of the Mega Moon rising over the ocean at Brigantine, New Jersey. I previously uploaded a shorter version after getting nowhere with a longer version. Then, after experimenting with changes in the frame rate, I now have a complete version of what I wanted. And now there is a slight stroboscopic effect that I think I like!

This was the night of the famous Mega Moon that only occurs once every 20 years! So, I drove down to Brigantine NJ and witnessed an incredible moonrise at the beach! And, to my surprise, the moon had a distinctively pink color in the first stages of its rise. I had filmed a moonrise over Manhattan on the previous evening which was an incredible event on unseasonably warm Friday 3/18/2011. I would have like to have returned to film that scene again, but I am glad I went to the Jersey Shore for this event! This was the first time I have ever watched a moonrise at the beach, let alone, a Mega Moonrise! The lighting at the beach during the early evening is incredible! And there was a fascinating effect on one of the buildings in the distance in Atlantic City. The windows on the largest building appeared to be twinkling like stars! I think it was a combination of the light reflecting off of the ocean waves and the changing temperature of the air as the evening drew near. I have never seen that before! And when the moon was getting high, it was unbelievably bright! In a few shots near the end of this video, you can see how much moonlight was being reflected in the water. But the air started to get cold and very windy! So, it was time for this videographer to get back to his warm car! That is, until the next Mega Moon! (Can you see the seagull dive into the ocean at 2:06?)

Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant tide
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine.

And no-one called us to the land
And no-one knows the wheres or whys
But something stirs and something tries
And starts to climb towards the light

Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can

And no-one calls us to move on
And no-one forces down our eyes
And no-one speaks and no-one tries
And no-one flies around the sun

Cloudless everyday you fall upon my waking eyes
inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning

And no-one sings me lullabies
And no-one makes me close my eyes
And so I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky
